Therefore, we provide an overview of what the shogunate was and the event that serves as the game's theme: the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274. There are also connections to other historical moments, such as the Mongol invasion of Baghdad, and the mythological and symbolic significance of the typhoon that struck the invading fleet in Japan.
